A superb performance from Phoenix. Especially appreciated the dark view into mental illness and society's ignorance. The thumping background sound effects were a predeliction of what was to come. Reminded me of JosephConrad's Heart of Darkness. Contemporary times should take note of the film's content and be very afraid.
