Good movie but not a great movie. The film focuses on emotional hype in order to pull the audience in. We fall in love with the main character by first pitting the Marsh Girl and then watching her grow up, following her hopes, wishing her a life of peace and innocence. We follow her through her emotional love interests as a parent of a well behaved teenager; we have the one we want her to end up with and the one we loathe. The ending is rather abrupt- more than what was necessary. I will say, the film was some strong content and may not be suitable for children (violence, rape, emotional abuse, etc..)
Despite that, the storyline is predictable- the acting is good, not great but above average and the scenery is authentic. I could see why people would like the film and I would recommend seeing it in theater. I would not pay to see it again, I did not think the plot was revolutionary, I didn’t think the acting was incredible but overall it was a good film.
