I think my expectations were maybe a bit too high from the hype surrounding The Outer Worlds. The game was fine, and too short to feel like a repetitive drag, but the story, characters and mechanics were more shallow than I'd hoped for based on the great reviews. I didn't find the jokey, breezy dialogue particularly funny, and wish they'd either pushed the satire to have more bite or given the characters more emotional depth and captivating storylines.
Overall I didn't hate it, but felt kind of disappointed by the wasted potential. To the game's credit, I thought some of the vistas were truly beautiful and I liked many of the haircuts.
ETA: I did genuinely really like Parvati. I wish all the companions had been as well written as her.
