The trailers were actually scarier than the film itself. All in all, it was solid... I've seen pretty much every King movie, and read most his books, and this story is, and has, always been one of my favorites. If there are ever remakes to do, King movies definitely are on the top of the list. They all need a facelift, maybe except Misery. This one moved pretty quick. My honest take is that if one compares this remake to the original film, one might be somewhat disappointed. If this is your first dance with the horror devil himself, it's a well done self-contained creepy film. A younger newcomer to King's work will probably enjoy it. A good matinee thriller or rental. Wouldn't go out of my way to see it again anytime soon. It would be interesting to hear comments from one who saw the remake first and then go back and watch the original for the first time. Maybe, I'll always have a special place in my heart for the first film, which makes this remake somehow forgettable.
