The movie is a slap in the face to the minority Irish Catholics who were treated as second class citizens for decades by the Protestant majority that was backed by the English military. On “Bloody Sunday”, English troops opened fire and killed unarmed Catholic protesters.
This farcical movie features an Angelic Protestant family living in a predominate Irish Catholic neighborhood. Instead of telling the history of the “Troubles” from the perspective of the oppressed minority, this twisted movie chooses to show the plight of a single idealized Protestant family that eventually leaves Ireland. I wish the English had left Ireland to the Irish 300 years ago.
Erin go braugh!
