Really wanted to like this- I kept waiting , thinking it would get better. It didnโt - smoke and mirrors of a brooding artsy film and real life tragedy. I think they failed to connect to his past , the writing for all the characters outside of Broody reminding me of the gangster film my son and his friends made in 8th grade. The lines , the props .. a few hints of interesting architecture but itโs all fake and doesnโt reference a real architect. Felt pointless. Watching a rape scene is nothing I ever like and it didnโt make a point. The cinematography is lovely and the music good at times. Missing too many pieces and the role of women (even though thereโs an intellectual one) is merely props for the men. His wife only talks of his art and wanting to get laid - this is the only relatable part. When the dance club music came on at the end I felt like a pawn , a victim . I was mad. Again I wanted to like it and it just failed me .
