Not every scary movie has be Hostel or The Exorcist to be appreciated as a strong piece of cinema. Jump scares are for children and people with no attention span. If you cannot keep it together long enough to successfully observe the changes to these characters and appreciate the subtlety of direction then please find a John Wick sequel. Kiernan Shipka is amazing. Her transformation was a creepy, dark contrast to her early innocence. Supporting roles were strong as well. The score was pitch-perfect and added a great deal of depth to this film. There is a stark, bloody payoff at the end which isn’t necessarily a surprise, but its savagery is. Recommend if you can stay off your phone while watching and try to get invested in the character building going on and let the atmosphere and music take you for a ride.
