The synopsis is good, but the film itself feels like a straight man's obsessive project not thinking about the audience or accessibility. The film felt haphazard, the characters didn't warrant my affection, the storyline felt muddy and I really wanted the film to end so I could leave - which it didn't for what felt like a really long time.
La Bete doesn't have the artistic intrigue or emotional investment to make up for its messy timeline and narrative.
