Incredible piece on what it takes to be a great. The raw passion is so tangible that I felt sore watching the actors play their music. The sacrifice, the stubborness, the second-hand embarassment makes you feel so intertwined with the story, almost as if you were at the receiving end of the dialogue. I had to reevaluate my life and where my complacency would take me, because now all I can think of is the tragedy of wasted potential. What reaching for your dreams really entails. Truly an eye-opener and a beautiful tribute to jazz. I was in awe of the acting, the talent is immesurable.

I feel like the majority of the 1 star reviews come from people who quit watching the movie halfway either by literally getting out of their seat or tiring of making sense out of it. I don't blame them, it can get confusing in the middle verse jumping sequence. However I feel the ending of the movie really ties it all together in a meaningful way. Don't think that you have to understand every single symbol they packed in this movie, but enjoy its chaos for the underlying message lies in it. TL;DR: if you stick around until the end, it'll all make sense.

It's evident throughout this movie that Marylin's fame was once again taken advantage of by a director who doesn't even appreciate her work. Who's gonna sit through movies that are based in fantasy rather than the details of a true story once lived. This is history, not a middle school writing assignment. The point was to recapture a moment of time and that was done with little research. If you are going to make a movie portraying the hardships women faced back in Marylin's era, please don't forget to include how she faced those same issues. A lot of how she fought and persevered was glossed over and ignored to add to some pathetic drama scenes. If you are going to use Marylin's name, respect it. Props to Ana though, it wasn't her fault.
