difference maker

I haven't seen the movie. I was and am a huge fan of the original. When I heard they cast Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins I knew immediately I didn't want to see it. There is no way she could've pulled it off. Julie Andrews has love in her eyes, Blunt does not. It would be hard for any modern day actress to pull off anything close to the performance from Andrews. Andrews was cast in many musicals and could really really sing. And she was a classic beauty with charm for days. I don't see that in Blunt. And as many of the reviews here state she didn't pull it off. They should have gone with a new face from Broadway They didn't need a big name for this movie. Mary Poppins was the big name and all they needed. If they couldnt do it perfect they should have left it alone. Blunt has played in dark dramas and was simply chosen because she fit much of the physical profile I guess. Give us a reboot ...and pick the right actress next time.
