I really loved this film. It grabbed my heart at the get go! Reading the negative reviews make me laugh. Obviously, these people do not feel or understand that this movie is about feelings and relationships between people, not just the cousins, but all the people on the tour who were touched by David and Benjiโs complicated stories. How you can care and learn from people and love people and still not be able to change things, understand and help people that you love. How we all move on in our lives in quiet desperation. This movie is about so much more than just what it appears to be, and yet it is also about what it appears to be, the history of two Jewish cousins who go back to Poland to learn about their heritage and their grandmother who they loved so much. And the reference to the suffering of generations in the past to the complicated lives of the current generation is so poignant. I think Jesse Eisenberg did a wonderful job of writing this film and acting in it and I think Kiernan Caulkin was spectacular. People wanted this movie to be about the Holocaust and Poland and a story about Jewish history, but the story was about a relationship between two young men and how their lives went in different paths, but there was still a connection. There was also a connection to everyone in that group through Judaism and the Holocaust. It was a beautiful movie, very moving and very deserving of an Oscar. I have no interest in seeing every movie like my friend Will do every year. But this movie really interested me and I thought it was a winner.
