Penny Haws

I loved this book ! His use of doors and the secrets behind them was neatly woven into the story with shifts back and forth in time. His use of real life characters—Somerset Maugham and Sun Yat Sen added an element of history that made me want to learn more about that time period and those characters. Shifting back and forth in the lives of the characters from 1910 to 1921 pulled me into the mystery, and I could not put the book down. And he writes well!!
