I like Terminator salvation much more than many of the critics. I found Sam Worthington's portrayal of a man in a machines body and not knowing it to be a very interesting take on the whole thing. I've heard it said that Christian Bale's portrayal was stiff and his acting was bad. I think he played it exactly the way it needed to be played. But I got to give props to Worthington more than anything. He made the movie. As much as I love Arnold as the hero or the protagonist in these movies, I really didn't miss him in this. I thought it stood on its own as a good story with a new angle and I found it to be fresh. I can't really tell you anything that I found wrong with it other than at the end I would have liked to have seen Marcus live to fight alongside with the humans.
This movie provoked as much emotion from me as any of the Terminator movies. Actually, probably quite a bit more. I enjoyed it from beginning to end, sometimes holding my breath in anticipation of what was going to happen next. All in all it didn't deserve the panning it got. As much as we'd like to look at sequels as part of the original, I like to look at movies and standing alone on their own merit and this one did just fine in my book
