I’ve listened to and read this stunning book. As a retired and former HS American History Teacher, I do wish I had included this intelligent, thoughtful, analysis of the migration of African Americans to the West, Chicago, and Harlem in their search for true freedom. I have a better appreciation of the daunting hurdles they all faced integrating into the new life they deserved escaping the south. Black Americans deserve better and I wonder how much longer it will take until they truly achieve the equality they deserve and how Americans can come together to understand and support Black Americans not distinguishable as “BlackAmericans” but, Americans.
