Dadlo Zuhrani a seasoned & professional executive and simultaneously compact & composed in his intellectual expressions; has well contributed in English poetry by this book – Unwhispered Voices. Prior to this Mr Zuhrani has written a novelette in Sindhi as well. His poetry reflects his childhood learning of folk wisdom and cultural context, global horizon. He can envision the local and global policies for their impact on nature and people. Even his fantasies or flight of his imagination is linked with land and rich heritage of his childhood grow up. When he visits lake Bracciano in Italy; the poet recalls “Manchhur Lake” that is:
“To my Sindh a beautiful gift of nature;
O! Victim of greed and abhor;
Poet weeps for your erstwhile grandeur”.
Mr Zuhrani’s expressions are rebellious also with conservative taboos in social and cultural context. His perspective is progressive and leading towards individual freedoms and choices, that his romantic poetry, reflects loudly;
“Behind every smile I have mountains of pain
Torture, torments, stains I have to sustain
Yet from heart in strains flows love fountain
Your name is written on my soul on brain
For your lost love, my life is under review
Every time I fall in love new”
Poet inside Mr Zuhrani seems in disagreements or in quarrel with injustice, social exclusions, poverty influenced ignominious compromises and other social evils. The Poem “REBELLION” is very much illustrative;
“You suck blood of ours
Beginning with our ancestors
But time is changing fast
Narrowing is world vast
Pall of doom on your fate is cast
Slaves have woken up
Dream of freedom taken up”
He also discusses these issues in different ways and expressions that reader can enjoy and the poetry reading grabs and relates his/her mind with happenings around & surround - like his lengthy Poems “HEADACHE I HAVE TONIGHT” or “WILL YOU BELIEVE?” as saying;
“Will you believe?
In a country of pious
Duplicity is obvious”
To my understanding the good and relevant poetry give hope and motivation in unlikely situation or it leads towards Jubilant and rejoiced life. I found key message of his poetry almost in every poem is about hope and stimulation for truth and dare for expression of conscious. The Poet is aware of “time and space” that is important for readers to relate with the letter and spirit or better to say the words and message of the Poetry. He weeps and feels the pain of people under lockdown in Italy where coincidently he was studying in university of Rome, during worst days of corona virus. The Poem, “O! ITALY WE STAND WITH YOU” is about the sufferings of people during the worst days that poet witnessed personally but simultaneously stands up as saying;
“Days are not far away
Deadly Corona is done away
Rome will dance in joy
We all will enjoy
O! Italy, we stand with you”
The Book is very good contribution for English literature and obviously for poetry readers. it is also good that the Book has been published by international publishing house – Authorhouse and available at amazon online as well.
