No one goes into a Halloween movie hoping that a mediocre love story would overshadow any appearance of Michael Myers. It really doesn't make sense that the ending of a long trilogy has the main characters being uncharacteristic. Laurie turned into some happy go lucky, optimistic ray of sunshine. Michael Myers was the exact opposite of how he acts. He spares some random guy that just so happens to turn into a serial killer because of prolonged eye contact from Myers. Top it off with Myers becoming a weak pushover and easily killable , even though he faced down an armed and angry mob in the movie before. It just felt like this movie was a big middle finger to those who worked hard on the previous 2 movies and the fans of Halloween.
