*No spoilers* The extremely negative reviews are not at all justified. This was an incredible game that doesn't spoon feed you the happy easy story you want. Its emotionally draining, and humanizes the enemies along with heroes. They use flashbacks to give you new information throughout the game, and there are quite a few surprises along the way. The ending is divisive, only because Naughty Dog chose to truly take into consideration the character arcs and backstories that would influence their decisions. Everything is beautifully done, smooth, and issues that came about in the first installment were addressed and fixed in the sequel. New weapons, enemies both human and infected, and a much more complex story than just "take this girl to the hospital to find a cure" like the first game. Give it a try and avoid the spoilers and excessive crying of gamers wanting a cookie cutter plot running around killing faceless enemies.
