Went into this novel after having enjoyed David Rhodes’s earlier novels. Intriguing characters, and a somewhat rambling plot, but the lengthy dialogues on cell biology etc. become tedious after a while. At times the characters simply become vehicles for worldviews.
I have to say too, with one of the other reviewers, that Milkweed needs to do more rigorous copy editing. Correcting inconsistent use of the Oxford comma, dangling introductory participial phrases especially, and the odd typo would help.
