This movie was so goated. The music was so so good, and the main dance scene, I honestly teared up a bit. It depicts a classic horror villain in a different way which I really enjoyed. I also love the lil bits of call outs to history in this film. Instead of using Jim Crow as faux inspiration/oscar bait, it used it for what the movie needed - a setting, a place in time. I also really liked the bit about the plantation money as I think it can help show people that even tho enslaved people were freed, many of them remained in very similar situations in the south and even north post slavery, which of course continues to effect people to this very day.
All in all, great film. I went in expecting just another good spooky movie but was met with something so much more.
