We saw Napoleon last weekend. I was really looking forward to this movie! Wasn’t at all what I wanted to see. Maybe this is a thing of the past, but why did almost every actor in this movie have a British accent except Napoleon and Josephine? Because the actors that portrayed them were Americans. The US was a brand new country during the time of Napoleon, most Americans still had a British accent. Why didn’t Napoleon & Josephine have French accents? Why didn’t every actor in this movie have a French accent? The character development was less than stellar. I didn’t come to understand Napoleon as a human being. His thought processes were a mystery to me. Josephine just seemed afraid of him after their marriage. Her children just kind of appeared here & there in the movie. Napoleon and Josephine are one of the great love stories of history. I didn’t get that in this movie.
The battle scenes were about the only thing (regarding blood & gore) that were accurately depicted. Not the actual battles, but the disgusting parts of them.
I was disappointed in this movie. It could have been epic. It wasn’t.
