The entire game fails to stick with itโs western theme, and overall itโs just another poorly written modern day action game.
The first thing I think of when I think of westerns is the classic guns. This game uses adaptations of these guns that look futuristic, shoot & reload more like modern firearms, & use sci-fi upgrades. Not only that, but all of the guns are super weak and the combat is far more focused on you using sci-fi gauntlets that combine the feel of the Assassins Creedโs hidden blades, the Scorpionโs moves from Mortal Combat, and a taser.
Some small bits of the dialogue are written and performed like a western, but most of it is written & spoken in a very modern dialect, both in the accent and the vocabulary. Plus, several of the characters with foreign accents arenโt consistently voiced and end up speaking in a modern American accent a lot more than in whatever accent they were supposed to have. Aside from it failing to sound western, the dialogue is also just poorly written & excessively obnoxious in general.
There are small bits of travel during the game. They donโt qualify to be called platforming or puzzle solving portions because the path around every single obstacle is made blazingly clear with trails of glowing white chains and big circular pop ups that tell you โshoot here to unlock the pathโ while blocking your view so that you donโt even see whatever it is that youโre shooting to get past this. These sections donโt feel enjoyable, rewarding, or brief to get past, theyโre just interruptions to the combat.
