A rule of writing, you may trick the audience, but you can't lie to the audience. This movie lied. If nonsensical plot contrivances and deceitful exposition annoy you, save your time and your sanity -avoid this embarrassment.

Good acting and direction. An interesting premise regarding the moral (or immoral) choices people make everyday and how anger and ego work against ones' own self-interests. Unfortunately the story stumbles over its' contrivances on its' way to the obligatory hollywood happy ending. Jacksons' preformance elivates it to a wobbly recommendation.

Strangely unsettling and thoughtful. If you dont like your movies too talky-skip it. But if you find yourself becoming immersed and listening intently for the meaning of certain spoken words... We barely leave the building. There's very little action-yet when it was finished, I felt as if i'd survived a zombie apocalypse. Well done. apocalypse.

Emmerich's movies aren't my favorites, but jake and Emma helped me get through it. Psuedo science about a real scientific phenomena-explain that to the kids.

Pretty good film. Not great by any stretch, but then again the more I think about it afterward the more I appreciate it. Appreciate, is the operative word. Many people will find it boring. Even some people who usually enjoy slow, "boring" movies will get bored. Yet there are so many distinct, interesting characters we come across that it almost came to the level of a Cohen or even Tarantino film. Almost. I was going to only give it 2 stars, but couldn't because of the quality of the writing and acting. Clark Duke, who also costars, does a fine job directing in his first feature. I will repeat- some people wont like this movie because of it's tone and it's leisurely storytelling. There is some violence, but nothing that stood out to me.

Pretty damn good horror movie. A little too gross out gory for my personal taste, but the story, acting, and direction were all very well done. Reminded me, slightly, of John Carpeter's "Prince of Darkness". and the ending was almost exactly the same as another above average horror movie I don't think most people have heard of-"The Dead Hate the Living." Horror fans shouldn't be disappointed. Nonhorror fans should steer clear. Go see the new "Dumbo", or whatever.
