What a wonderful short story. I first saw a film version on an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents, and was so moved by the performance of the female lead that I began searching for the author's name. Maybe it's a story that would be closer to a woman's taste because of the nature of the plot. But, of course, men would enjoy it too. I don't want to let out any part of the story in case someone decides to read it, or, as I said, it belongs on a collection of Alfred Hitchcock Presents, on film, which you can see on netflix, youtube, etc. If you have a chance, look this up. Very, very moving
