Jayshree Gohain Baruah

I was completely immersed in the book from the beginning till end. A beautifully narrated interwoven stories set mostly in the backdrop of Kerala in Southern India, each story brought out a different emotion and perspective. Even though the characters were fictional, they were brought to live by Anuradha’s skilful storytelling and seemed like someone I have known for years. The protagonist were mostly women and each one very strong and unique in their own ways. The golden lock, The teen bride, The first born and The first cut were specially powerful stories which really moved me a lot. Considering this is the first novel by the author, it’s extremely well written and I look forward to reading many more from this talented physician author.
