I lived in Los Angeles when this all took place and I still remember it. I and and the people I knew thought exactly what the media and the court wanted us to think: here's a couple of spoiled rich kids who killed their parents to get their inheritance.
36 years later I find out about the horrendous abuse they suffered throughout their childhood and that the judge quashed the abuse evidence. Discussing their failed bid for a new trial the other day, a journalist said that murder isn't a good solution for anything. You know what? Sometimes it is. That might sound insensitive, but when you destroy a person's psyche and push them over the edge with what Josรฉ Menendez did to his own children, he needed to be taken off of the planet.
This series has been criticized by a lot of people, including Erik Menendez who hadn't even seen it, but I think it does a good job.
