It's not meant to be a traditional sequel. Lots of franchises build on themselves in sequel films that are independent of its original. If you go into it with the mindset it's not a sequel to American Psycho, dint raise your expectations you'll enjoy it a lot more. All the 1 star complaints are either the movies start( which is BS how can you review a movie with only a couple minutes) or that it's not well connected or related to the original. That's OK it doesn't need to be a copy to be good.
