As an amateur WWII historian the spins and twists, unbelievable omissions of fact and even more astonishing inferences make this nearly unwatchable. He omits important determining facts upon which key decisions were made, and then spins his own narrative based on 1/10 of the history mired with his opinions. He OMITS the FACT that before the bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan had been informed of impending destruction and refused to surrender. Stone OMITS the fact that MILLIONS of leaflets were dropped over Tokyo explaining that the Japanese people would be treated humanely upon surrender and of an impending horrific weapon. Stone attempts to twist "unconditional surrender" in to some evil plot by Truman. Apparently Stone believes allowing the government of Japan that began WWII - and raped and murdered MILLIONS of civilians in China and tortured US and British POWs - to stay in power was a viable option, while hanging his entire feeble narrative on whether or not Hirohito could remain Emperor. EVEN AFTER Hiroshima and before Nagasaki Japan refused surrender! Stone skips over this fact so quickly that we're supposed to then believe the Japanese "didn't have time" to respond! Truly ridiculous! Stone twists the fact that Americans were openly racist against the Japanese in to an unstated implication of desired genocide. Finally, Japan didn't surrender because of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but because of the "Soviet invasion" in Manchuria! Eye rolling emoji doesn't underscore the absurdity of the claim. He also COMPLETELY OMITS the fact that MacArthur ordered that the Japanese be treated with "Dignity and respect" and that US troops not only did so, but immediately began giving aid to the Japanese and rebuilding. He then twists even further misrepresenting quotes of Truman's 100% ACCURATE statements of the cost in lives of a US invasion of the Japanese home islands. Understanding the horrific nature and terrible tragedy that the bombs were, whatever lack of humility Truman MAY have had in deploying them, and questioning the necessity of their use, is honorable. This mess of contractions and nonsense pays no tribute to the innocent Japanese who died and suffered and only serves to call in to question the mental health of the clowns who wrote it.
