Can't think of many other industries where you can spend £70 and immediately be left disappointed.
Such a shame to see that regardless of EA not having to pay the FIFA licensing anymore, they're still shoving micro transactions and in game sponsors down people's throats; they have seemingly since introduced a paid season pass in the past few years, without mentioning how poor the content is in it. EA mention about slowing down the power curve for the early game - hilarious considering that two weeks in, there's already 100k packs in Ultimate Team! Pro Clubs has even become pay to win, honestly it's borderline scandalous what they've done to this mode.
As far as gameplay goes, what a mess. They've made a song and dance about winning the ball being rewarding, which isn't far off considering defending is probably the worst I've ever seen in a FIFA game, having played on/off since 04 - every game in Division Rivals ends up looking like a cricket score. Whilst players are constantly falling into one another and we're still saying "how has that fallen so perfectly to him there", keepers do seem to have a nice overhaul where the ball isn't immediately parried into your opponents path, and we'll often see saves go out for a corner instead. Mode wise, the most fun I've had in UT is probably playing Rush, and it's nice to see some tournaments in Rivals are now present that cause people to mix their teams up a bit. Player career mode seems to have come a long way from a few years back with in game objectives and player career decisions, and whilst there's still very little to do between games and training is very repetitive, it actually seems like quite a refreshing take on the mode.
Overall however, this is probably the nail in the coffin for the franchise for me, though I love football and it's tough considering there's no strong competitors.
