I couldn’t put this book down. It is spectacularly well written, and gives the reader a chance to glimpse into the constant sense of betrayal and frustration one experiences when living under the corrupt, unsympathetic microscope of the media. This is a family made dysfunctional by the ever present demands of public service and the unending scrutiny of the public eye. To not be able to trust anyone, even family members, and to not be able to live a normal life without having every mistake, stumble, or intimate facet of one’s personal life blasted across television and the newspapers is both tragic and insane. I am grateful that Harry has shared his experiences with us, and the love he feels for his family, despite always being deemed the “other”, or the “spare”. I feel deeply for all the family, but especially for Harry, who at a very young age, lost his mother to a pack of hyena-like paparazzi, who simply let her die while they kept on taking pictures. Harry’s attempts to find a soul mate and to serve his country in the military in a normal manner were constantly being foiled by that same relentless media monster, which is not seeking truth anymore, but merely the sensational and the sordid, without any thought for National security, or the betterment of society. I am shamed by the insensitivity, jealousy, and outright greediness displayed by so many humans on this planet. I admire all the volunteer work both he and his wife have done, and I pray for their safety and happiness for many years to come.
