I’m on Season 3. At first I enjoyed watching the team, including Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington). However as I watched each episode, my like for the main character just went lower and lower. I’m not sure if Shonda is overseeing the writing, or perhaps writing each episode with assistance. Either way, Olivia’s character is horrible. She doesn’t represent a strong woman, definitely not a strong black woman so far. The over the lip quivering, and the soapbox lines all throughout the scenes is just too much. The White House is the Massa’s house and she’s legs open at the drop of POTUS’ pants, and it’s simply pathetic to watch the degrading scenes anytime he just wants her to - coat room, broom closet, hotel room, oval desk or where ever. The plot twists are also a bit over the top, however I do like the writer’s direction is some scenes - I predicted the mother’s unalive scene. But really 20 years in a 10x5 - really? Anyway, I’ll keep watching until the end, hopefully she isn’t the mistress for the entire run of this series.

This movie is horrible for all the reasons stated in the 1 star reviews. I totally disagree with the one review related to this being a "woke" movie because it didn't explore the topics most often associated with wokeness. I didn't see the musical which I heard was great, so now I'll try to find it to compare. I wouldn't recommend this for ages under 16, and I'm pretty liberal. Also 3hrs is way too long for this Barbie movie.
