One of the worst books I’ve read about Elvis Presley, especially disappointing because of the author’s academic credentials. He depends heavily on the debunked Elvis biography by Albert Goldman and does not bother to verify sources or attribute information. The book is full of contradictions, errors that could easily have been fact-checked, and wild leaps in logic about Elvis’ thoughts and feelings. If you want fair and balanced Elvis books, read Peter Guralnick’s well-regarded 2-volume biography or Sally Hoedel’s meticulously researched “Destined to Die Young.”
