I've read the entire series of books, it's also my favorite series so I was very excited to see this adaptation.....I was met with disappointment. I'm not sure if they realize their primary demographic is women because they casted an actress as Rowan with 100% sex appeal and minimal actual character portrayal, I just don't see as many layers to this Rowan 😩. So....not sure if they were greedy as far as their audience or what but they should have stayed loyal and chosen someone that could actually play the role. Additionally they went the opposite direction with lasher who had 0% sex appeal, imo anyways; both subjective. Would have appreciated them casting someone who can act and is timelessly attractive for Lasher since he's, you know, supposed to be so enticing he makes you go against your better judgement? This actor always strikes me as satirical and it's hard to take him seriously I just felt like this story was taken from an R rating to PG-13 with missed audience resonance and lacks the levels of emotion and self reflection Rice takes you through in her books. Really, REALLY disappointed, I hope someone actually gets to do Rice's work the justice it deserves after this bland execution. Bad bad bad, go read the books.
