this is the worst book i have ever read. foster is extremely pretentious and goes on multi-page-long tangents referencing tens of books only to make a rather unfunny quip that ends up not relating to the point he is trying to make at all.
this is not to say that the book does not contain useful information. foster does make good points in many chapters. but the 6 pages he takes to get there— which are filled endlessly with explaining plots to other books or creating author-reader conversations to answer questions nobody was asking— make this book legitimately tortuous to read.
