I haven’t read the books, but from watching the series I could feel that a lot was missing. I think they did a great job with costumes and set but the CGI could use some help. I generally feel like the writing was the weakest part and brought the entire series to a twilight level of teen fiction that is laughable. All of the characters were short changed. The only thing that drove the plot forward was stupidity and lack of communication. I felt no real connection to the main characters or distain for the big bad guy. Not to mention they threw away so many good characters (looking at you false dragon). Half the key elements ( like the white coat army) aren’t explained and don’t even get me started on the complete lack of any main character development. None of the characters choices made since. I wish they’d put more budget into their writers and less into the special effects that was in charge of all the gore.
