I’m happy to watch Downton from time to time - nice locations, costumes etc - but this film exaggerated all of the bad aspects. The plot is thin and simultaneously predictable and unrealistic, script uninspired, and characters are caricatures of themselves. The film seems to have been made to simply highlight the locations and costumes. I can’t be more specific without including spoilers....but one example of this film that makes me feel it was put together without too much care for it’s content: knowing the film involved some of the cast going to the south of France, it was farcical to see at the beginning of the film that many people of the cast already had south of France suntans. Clearly filmed in reverse order, and very offputting.
