Akinsa, a young aspiring Kabbadi player and an inhabitant of the wada, fell for Emilie, a foreign exchange student. But the cultural differences form a barrier between them. This book strongly depicts human emotions and relationships. Apart from the main leads, all the residents of the wada have their own share in the storyline. Still, the author has kept it as a short read within just 120 pages. The inclusion of Marathi words helps to maintain the feel but may be difficult for some. However, the glossary and translations are of great help. The story is fast-paced but lacks the wow factor. The cover is well designed but the title doesn't suit the story. Overall a good one-time read.

Though I'm a big fan of Indian mythology and retellings, I have never read about Ashtavakra before. That's the main reason why I decided to give it a try. And I must admit, the book and the teachings of the sage Ashtavakra left me in awe. The book is more like a philosophical guide, than just a mythological retelling. And the author deserves appreciation for simplifying the complex ideas and presenting them before the readers in an engaging manner. Don't take it wrong that the book has nothing in store for mythological lovers. It narrates the lesser-known story of King Janaka before Sita’s swayamvar, and how he, with the guidance of sage Ashtavakra attains enlightenment and self-realization. The book holds all the grandeur required for a retelling. The language is rich with a gripping narration. Overall it would be a great pick for mythology lovers.
