I agree with Russell Rogers on this book as i had to read this in year 8 and when doing this i found the story very hard to follow. The charaters where mostly the same with the exception of piggy and a few others.
I found the mojority of the charaters extremely annoying, i couldn't relate to anyone of even feel sympathy for any of the characters.
I did understand the main ideas of the book about savagery and such but i felt like the writer was really just trying to push that instead of bringing the story forward.
I never understood why the plane crashed and figured it was a plane when I when to the Wiki for it and it just confused the hell out of me.
I also found the savagery displayed in the play showed alot of stereotypical 1950s thoughts about tribal cultures (the dancing around the fire, hunting, face paint etc)
In conclusion i believe that in school they should be trying to find books that the students will actually enjoy and will start the students reading career instead of ending it.
