Nothing in this story 'rang true' to me. So many words, but none of it seemed plausible.
I did not find the characters believable or their motivations cosistent. Jess was said to love Nora, but barely spent a moment with her. Thomas not returning to Austalia?
There were huge gaps in the stories of Percy and his family, along with Isobel. The red hearings were annoying, the police investigation was laughable.
Nora, a master manipulator who gaslit her own daughter and caused untold sadness to others is made out as a hero right to the end.
I might read another story by this author though, as despite the mire of incongruencies, the writing is like treacle and the sense of place was really well drawn.
