Before I start
This review may be subject to change
In almost a year, old gen console players have had to find exploits to obtain their 100% trophy/achievement due to an update that has, for the "near year" prevented players from viewing a target further than 255 meters
In this time the game has recieved several updates that have been great but, this one little setback has spoiled the experience for many, including myself and has resulted in this going unplayed, personally, for months
This is written before their teased "community feedback" update but, I've got a feeling they won't bother despite stating publicly that they are aware of the issue
So fingers crossed I can come back and add that final star because I genuinely really like this game and recommend it to others regularly
It takes a unique look at an apocalypse by throwing us against machines from wolf sized robo hounds to collosal quadrupeds that can melt an entire countryside in seconds
The mix of globally recognised weaponry and Swedish culture is an absolute blast, pun intended
From the high powered 50 cal to the nimble 9mm everything feels really nice (with exception of the ever present gun shiver in games with horror twists)
This is a title you can get used to and become less fearful of the entities with a little practice, easily turning it in the start from a game with horror elements to an arcade shooter once you're geared up in a way the individual desired
The companion was an absolutely beautiful twist and makes me hope for buildable hunters and tanks at our strategic capture points (yes, there's base building elements too, woohoo!)
The stash and material weights both need drastic increases but offer an already huge quantity to accumulate (just don't encumber yourself, you won't be able to move without dropping loot)
The vehicles are alright, a bit jumpy and the bouncing is a bit weird but ultimately manageable if you're experienced at driving in a game or, in this case, riding
The soundtrack is ominous and beautiful but when the fighting gets going it becomes intense, hard to hear due to a lot imbalance between sound effects and music volumes but, noticeably intense
Fast travel should be placed above the prompt for placing markers, purely for user convenience, otherwise it's not an issue for most
The community seems generous and routinely farms gear to share with new players
Crossplay would be pretty cool but lets not go into the realm of exclusives, that ultimately alienates users that feel left out
A crossover with any other title that was either made by these devs or that was based in Sweden would be phenomenal, even as a small Easter egg
The absolute mountain of collectible customisation options for your character is impressive, it took nearly a month to find them all as random drops or location specific items
The challenges are relatively easy but are ultimately a fun challenge compared to just running around shooting robots
The collectibles mostly have lore should the player want to delve into that (I won't go into it because its bigger than one might assume)
All in all, this is a fabulous game, it needs a little polishing but, its definitely, without a shadow of a doubt worth what it costs
