About 80% of the first episode I spent with a profound expression on my face composed of confusion, intrigue, and disgust. Nathan I think pulled off exactly what he was intending to make. Nearly the whole time watching this, you will have a bitter taste in your mouth and your shoulders will be quite tensed up. I won't lie, the amount of full-on micropenis is quite off-putting, but I let it slide because Nathan Fielder is behind it, or attached to it I guess.
Not many "laugh out loud" moments, I mostly just felt bad but also found it funny when the Australian barista is attempting an interaction with the small Hispanic lady of the low income neighborhood who obviously has no possible idea of what a matcha latte is, nor does she care.
Anyways, the show does a great job of making the audience want to try and empathize with the protagonists while also making the audience find them repulsive. Pretty good so far, if you enjoy something that's kind of mentally taxing to watch and don't mind Nathan Fielder's bizarrely dark comedy style, then you'll probably like this.
