I went into it with low expectations (due to poor reviews) and I was still disappointed. Granted, there are some compelling scenes, and some great acting from Vera Farmiga and Michael Gandolfini, but the overall narrative falls entirely flat. For all of David Chase's commentary about how this is not really a Sopranos movie, and it is just the story of Dickie Moltisanti which happens to take place in the same universe, the movie sure doesn't illuminate much about Dickie, and sure spends way too much time making hacky references to the show. For lack of meaningful character development, and a complete flop of a story, 1 star. I might give 1.5, just because some of the scenes were good.
