No idea why people are claiming this is political outside of the basic: "War is pretty bad" Kinda message. Granted, I haven't read the book this is based on so I'm not sure if people are just unhappy with the changes made to the original story to fit a modern audience. Judging this as a work on its own, it certainly pushes the boundaries for the quality we expect from TV and is overall really good! It's a slower-paced fantasy story, and I really like that. There are a lot of vague time jumps at the start which is pretty jarring, but once the series moves beyond those things it gets more engaging. I'd give it a watch if you like the original LOTR films.
