John Grisham is one of my favorite authors, so it pains me to say this book was a real downer. Very depressing and sad from beginning to end. I did find the part about Pete's war experience interesting though. I enjoy military novels, and this prompted me to read more about the Bataan death March. His description of Japanese captivity was the only reason I gave this a 2 star rating - otherwise would have been a 1 star.
