To the writer, cast, and crew of this amazing Reminder of what Christmas Spirit is truly about,
I took my three daughters to see this movie on Veterans Day to get in the Holiday Spirit, and walked away with so much more! Currently in my home town like many across the country there is much debate, anxiousness, turmoil over the state of our schools. So much finger pointing and blaming of children with behavior needs adding to the difficulty of our classrooms, stealing other children’s learning time, detracting from their safe learning environment, and yes, while our teacher need more support and more training because the numbers have increased. I have sat with my children that have IEPs and 504s and felt sadness for the children that are struggling more than my own.
On a day we give thanks to our Military for the freedoms we do receive I wanted to steal a moment away with my children to experience some goodness and spirit. To my surprise you captured all that and what we have been witnessing. Just like Jesus is here for the Heardmans, I hold in my heart as a teacher that schools are here for children like the Heardmans too.
I was moved to laughter, wonderment, thought, and tears at all that this movie captured. As we walked out of the movie, I heard my children saying what a sweet, warm, and wonderful movie message it was! I heard my children say how much the differences were felt and how much they enjoyed the way Grace saw the real message of Jesus shared it with her daughter and Beth moved into action. I could see in their eyes how much this hit them and how they know children just like the Heardmans and how cold people can be. You touched their hearts and taught them a message that I have been trying to figure out these last few weeks how to convey to them.
Thank you for giving us a much needed new Christmas Classic! This will certainly be joining our yearly Christmas movie list! Well done! Well Done! Please take your bow! Thank you from a family that needed this connection!
