Excellent series in every respect. The acting, script and characterisation are fabulous and the cinematography is probably the best I have ever seen! The scene where Prissy runs from the church out into the snow is incredibly framed and shot! Just stunning! The dialogue is intelligent and subtle and, in the case of some characters, often spare. Refreshingly the characters do not verbalise every emotion for easy audience consumption. It forms an interesting social history of a specific time and place. Very enjoyable throughout and Amybeth McNulty is superb playing Anne. A thoroughly enjoyable and far above average piece of TV which I am currently watching for the second time.
