Ken Mathis

At first, I thought this show would be too sweet, too "innocent" (think "Little House" & Disney-esque naivete). Don't get me wrong; this show is "wholesome" in its own way, but with just enough dark undercurrent to give the show a definite weight and gravitas. The acting is superb. I found myself buying into all the characters immediately. The real (all too real) evils on display here (bigotry, ignorance, avarice & arrogance) almost break our dear Anne-with-an-E. Almost. A beautiful show, with great, complex characters, beautiful cinematography, and a truly enchanting soundtrack as well.
