I love Judge Judy. She personifies the wisdom gained from age-so often overlooked in our youth oriented society and esteemed in other cultures.
For years I have cringed at one of the advertisements for the show. But now that people are open to see what we (African Americans) see and try to understand how we feel, I'm going to speak on it
There are two young men, one white, one black. The white guy says "that's my story and I'm sticking to it". The black guy says, "I'm just trying to tell you what happened."
But in someone's mind the black guy's comment is classified as "hostile".
This is the kind of innocuous remarks that add to the death by a million cuts. It puts an image in the mind that adds to the stereotype and the mythology about black people. In fact the white guys comment is more aggressive.
