I regret watching it, not because it was not good.
I am truly conflicted - here's why... in reality, those who do not believe, or even lack a strong relationship with God, might fall for such conversation with the enemy without understanding the implication. Such as in Dr. Martin's case, even pridefuly argue with which they do not understand or believe to be who he claims to be. The enemy understands whose heart and mind are approachable and whose are covered by the blood of the Savior. He knows which doors are open. And I feel this movie points out how satan and his minions inch in to win so many battles, likely as a warning and with good intention, but it also feels like it was could have been taken advantage of as a gateway by the enemy if that makes any sense.
It truly bothered me that the priest was not invested in saving his soul, he was indifferent or intimated or simply in denial, which i thought to been truly bothersome, but likely accurate. The barber as a believer, tried and understood the man’s answer would not change, and likely understood why...if you noticed, his whole demeanor towards him changed in that short time, which i found really interesting. Later Dr. Martin didn't seem to believe that God stood in the gap for him when firing the gun, right after him saying “God Help Me” yet he was not convicted. I think this happens often in reality. He however believed the evil in which he had a personal encounter with enough to try to warn others.
The unfortunate reality of our world right now is that satan is captivating and winning so many of our loved ones who have taken advantage of their gift of free will to follow the desires of this world straight into his arms, astray from God. If they truly believe in God and in heaven and hell, but likely do not live in prayer or relationship with our Father, than it will be taken advantage of as the enemy does have some power her on earth. It is even mentioned in the movie how Jesus himself did not argue that the enemy could not offer things of this world – He just denied his offer. Something, I already understood.
To a non-believer, this is simply just a horror film, the believers of this world will understand, but unfortunately will watch out of curiosity - like me. I cannot lie, I feel under attack by the enemy, and the need to seek assistance besides my own prayer handle this. Some window was opened that I did not take into account upon wanting to gain some understanding that I probably did not need, by watching it. I knew it was considered a Christian movie and felt comfortable with the content, but now I am not so sure it was a wise choice. I do not watch horror films as I have a conviction to guard my soul. I would speak against some from watching this, no matter how good it is. It might just give the enemy a crack in a window upon which to enter. As explained in this movie, it may just be one small thing ... for now. It’s how it starts. He is a thief who will steal your Joy and the reality is he does not now, or will ever just settle for the non-believers that he has in his hip pockets. He wants God's believers more. God Wins the war, don’t put yourself in line to have these battles with the enemy, you may not be as strong as you think you are. Lesson learned.
