I've never read the book. Here is a free paragraph that is not in there. My Grandpa became a Marine at 17. At 18 he ran into the beach in Okinowa. When he made it to the woods the stock of his rifle shattered and his friend all through boot camp was killed. He didn't even realize he was shot through the arm.
