This movie completely impacted my life in ways I did NOT expect it too. I went in knowing it had a serious undertone, but I didn't expect the level of emotion and change in my thoughts that it would give me.
The music was immaculate and fit the movie perfectly, all of the artists did wonderful and portrayed Barbie's character development perfect. I adored how connected the songs were to the scenes rather than just being background music, I feel like that is a very unique thing for movies to do and I loved every second of it.
The actors were all amazing and fit their characters perfectly, you saw the character, not the actor, which I feel can be difficult whenever you use famous actors and actresses.
This was absolutely breakthrough for Margot, she was absolutely breathtakingly, beautifully Barbie the entire time. The portrayal of emotion and thoughts without over explaining or using dialogue to fill in was a phenomenal showing of her pure talent, I never once thought that I didn't understand the intentions or feelings from her character. It made me FEEL what she was feeling.
All young adult AFAB people should absolutely see this movie. The portrayal of womanhood and the relationship you have with society and expectations is unmatched, it taught me so very much about what my feelings are stemming from and why they are harmful. We have all been Barbie, and Barbie has been all of us.
Overall, the directing, acting, musical performance, and writing were some of the best I've ever seen. If I could give it a higher rating I absolutely would. It is something all women, or women-raised individuals on my behalf, should hear. You are not worth less than those around you.
